Nearly every conversation we had at ISC East this year revolved around convergence, connectivity and the cloud. During the show, attendees stressed that (finally!) convergence and system and device compatibility is here. IT companies touted partnerships with physical security providers, and end users highlighted the value of close cooperation between security, IT and cyber-centric initiatives. These trends point to the fact that the industry is becoming far more integrated and as a result, customers are aligning within their organizations to ease communication.
Connectivity and the drive for more actionable data also dominated conversations during the show. The demand for at-your-fingertips accessibility and mobile capabilities has exponentially increased convenience, creating a surplus of information; and users want to gain more insights from this data to enhance security and business operations alike. More and more security leaders seek to leverage video and security data for marketing, customer engagement and manufacturing efficiencies, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. New use cases are being rolled out daily as users find innovative ways to leverage the intelligence gleaned from this data.
And finally, let’s address the talk of the cloud. There is a lot of discussion around the value and potential benefits of the cloud when used in video surveillance applications. Video cloud-based services are designed to ensure security, scalability, streamlined operations, and bandwidth management — all from a single, easy-to-use interface. The cloud also reduces the burden and cost of system management, providing automatic software updates, maximizing system uptime, and ensuring the most up-to-date version is available to users at all times. But is everyone sold? In all honesty: no.
At Arcules, we continue to demonstrate the benefits of the cloud to the industry. The more we invest in education around cloud for physical security, the more significant the shift we see toward the adoption of the cloud for broader security and video applications. But this is only the beginning. As we aim to be at the forefront of development in this space, we strive to have the chance to highlight the benefits of cloud-based infrastructure across the security and IT industries.
ISC East was a fantastic show for the Arcules team. We had the opportunity to talk in-depth with both customers and partners, new and old, and connect with industry thought leaders through various engagements. Thanks to all who contributed to making this an excellent event for our team and we look forward to our next event: NRF 2020 “Retail’s Big Show” also being held in NYC at Javits Center in January.
